This Privacy Policy describes how Imautotech ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the WatchParty application ("the App") and the WatchParty Together browser extension.
WatchParty Together Browser Extension
The extension connects a selected video page to your WatchParty room. It handles page addresses and titles, video-source metadata, and playback activity such as play, pause, and playback position to discover sources and coordinate watching. When you enable automatic discovery in WatchParty, it scans eligible active pages for video sources and returns the results to your connected WatchParty app tab. Choosing a source activates playback observation and control for that tab.
The connected app receives source and playback information and uses its room services to synchronize with other participants. Share only pages and content you intend people in your room to see. The extension does not copy or upload the video stream; each participant accesses the original website with their own account and subscription when required. The extension does not request access to your saved passwords or browser cookies. Recognized credential-bearing and signed media URLs are kept in the original page instead of being shared as playable links; a public page address may be returned instead. This filtering cannot identify every private detail that a website might encode in a page address or title.
The extension stores the linked app-tab ID, video-tab ID, and source origin in temporary Chrome session storage to restore routing after its background worker is suspended. It does not save a browsing-history archive in local or sync storage. Disconnecting clears these link values and stops observation and discovery; closing the connected app tab also ends the connection. Use Stop syncing on the video-page badge to disconnect, disable automatic discovery in WatchParty, or disable/remove the extension in Chrome. Stopping extension synchronization does not itself leave your WatchParty room or delete information already shared with it. For deletion requests, contact imautotech.support@gmail.com.
Extension data is used only for these discovery and synchronized-watching features. We do not sell it, use it for advertising or unrelated purposes, or use or transfer it to determine creditworthiness or for lending. Our use and transfer of data received through the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Information We Collect
Google Account Sign-In Data
WatchParty uses Google Sign-In (OAuth 2.0) to let you create an account and join rooms with friends. When you choose to sign in with Google, we request and receive the following information from your Google Account:
- Basic profile information — your name and profile picture, so friends can recognise you inside a watch room
- Email address — used as your account identifier and to send session notifications, invitations, and important service updates
- Google user ID — a unique identifier that allows us to recognise your account on subsequent sign-ins
We access this data only through Google's standard OAuth consent screen, and only the minimum scopes required for sign-in (openid, profile, email). You may decline these scopes at any time on the consent screen, and you can revoke access later from your Google Account settings.
Device & Usage Information
We may collect information about your device and how you interact with the App, including device model, operating system version, app version, session duration, and feature usage patterns. This data helps us improve performance and user experience.
Advertising Data
We use Google AdMob to serve advertisements within the App. AdMob may collect and use your advertising ID, device information, and interaction data to deliver personalized ads. Information obtained from your Google Account through Sign-In is never used to serve or personalise advertisements. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings. Analytics Data
We use analytics services (including Google Analytics and Firebase Analytics) to understand how users interact with the App. This may include information such as crash reports, performance metrics, screen views, and user engagement data.
Limited Use of Google User Data
WatchParty's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, we affirm that information received from Google APIs is used only to provide or improve user-facing features of WatchParty that are prominent in the App's user interface. We do not:
- Sell, rent, or transfer Google user data to third parties for advertising, marketing, or any other unrelated purposes
- Use Google user data for serving advertisements, including retargeting, personalised, or interest-based ads
- Allow humans to read Google user data, except (a) with the user's explicit consent for specific messages, (b) for security investigations, to prevent abuse, or to comply with law, or (c) where the data has been aggregated and anonymised for internal operations
- Use Google user data to train or improve generalised or non-personalised machine-learning or AI models
How to Revoke Google Sign-In Access
You may revoke WatchParty's access to your Google Account at any time:
- Open myaccount.google.com/permissions
- Locate WatchParty under "Third-party apps with account access"
- Select it and choose Remove Access
Revoking access signs you out of WatchParty on all devices. You may also request permanent deletion of the data we hold by using the Contact Us page or emailing imautotech.support@gmail.com.
Permissions We Require
WatchParty enables you to watch movies and content together with friends in real time. To deliver this experience, the App requires the following permissions:
Camera Access
Used for video calls during watch party sessions, allowing you to see and interact with friends while watching content together. Camera access is only active when you explicitly enable it during a session.
Microphone Access
Used for voice chat during watch party sessions, enabling real-time audio communication with other participants. Microphone access is only active when you explicitly enable it during a session.
Notifications
Used to notify you when a friend starts a watch party, sends you an invitation, or when a scheduled session is about to begin. You can manage notification preferences in your device settings at any time.
Internet Access
Required for streaming content, real-time synchronization between participants, serving advertisements via AdMob, and sending analytics data.
How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate you and create your WatchParty account via Google Sign-In
- To display your Google profile name and picture inside watch rooms so friends recognise you
- To provide and maintain the watch party and real-time streaming functionality
- To enable video and audio communication between participants
- To send notifications about invitations, sessions, and service updates to your verified email
- To display advertisements through Google AdMob (never personalised using Google Sign-In data)
- To analyse usage trends, diagnose technical issues, and improve the App
- To send crash reports and performance data for troubleshooting
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services that may collect information:
- Google AdMob - for advertising
- Firebase Analytics - for analytics and crash reporting
Data Retention
We retain collected data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy. Analytics and advertising data is managed and retained by the respective third-party service providers according to their own data retention policies.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can promptly delete it.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
